REFLECTIONS OF THE MAN WITH A GOOD NAME


Of what need is "the Resolution" without "a Reflection?"
I could not wait for 2015 to end; it wasn't so pleasant a year after all. So I began 2016 with a very high expectation, hoping for better days ahead. The best I could say was that my 2016 began and also ended in praise.

Many thanks to God, but of what benefit was my "praise" to the next person?
Beyond the praise, what value did I add to life in 2016? Of what benefit was my life in 2016 to God and humanity?

Did I observe steady growth in my spiritual life? Did I get better academically, emotionally and socially? Did I become the Super-dad I have always wanted to be?

When last did I:
  • Help someone out of his sick bed with my prayers?
  • Care for the destitute with my present?
  • Share God's word with a stray soul?
  • Give food to the hungry?
  • Comfort the afflicted?
  • Visit and care for old and dying people?

  • Was the misfortune of others a prayer point or a gossip topic?
  • Nigeria for now seems not to have competent economic managers, how did I manage mine?
  • Did I have a budget at all?
  • How much did I get, earn or make in 2016, do I even know?
  • What was my total expenses for 2016?
  • On what did I spend my money?
  • How many streams of income do I have, any need for improvement?
  • What moral right do I have to question government's misappropriation of funds if am also guilty of the same crime?
  • What choices did I make and what informed them; Sentiment or Logic?
  • What value do I add to life?
  • We are healed to help others, and how many did I help?
  • We are blessed to be a blessing, how much of a blessing have I being? 
  • We are saved to serve and what does my act of service look like?
  • We grow up in other to give out; give out what?
  • Impression without expression causes depression; how is my mental health?
  • Study without service leads to stagnation; am I moving forward?
  • To serve and to give is God's purpose for our lives; what did I give to people; Gold or Straw?
  • Have I discovered the purpose of my life?
  • Am I in the right place?
  • How do I get to the right place?
  • What's the price I must pay?
  • Am I willing and ready to pay the price?
  • Am I running a good race?
  • If I die now, what will be my fate; heaven or hell?

It was the longest night of my life. The doctor looked at me with mute hopeless appeal, his facial expression was that of total despair though he managed to pretend as if everything was okay. Within a second, I was gripped by this sense of disgust, sorrow and revulsion and I gave him a curious but futile stare. I could feel the scorch of fear on my skin travelling through my spine, down to the bone marrow even though he is yet to utter a word. I nearly lost my balance; I had to lean on the wall to regain myself. I feared the worst. It was about 1:30am in the early hours of Friday March 27th, 2015, I could feel the movement of light disappearing from my eyes. The night became darker than usual. My heart skipped as if it's about jumping out of its cage. All these happened in less than 5 seconds. I knew there was nothing okay about the situation, but I managed to ask, "I hope she is alright?"
