Birthday Prayers For A Priceless Dad

Today is my lovely dad's birthday, and it's a very special day as he is now 81 years old.
We thank God for His mercies upon his life.

Obinga, Thomas C. Ebere(Onye Nkuzi) is a man I admire a lot not only because he is my dad but for his impeccable character. A man renowned for his honesty, intelligence, courage and godly nature.

He is a tough and unassuming facilitator of knowledge; a teacher par-excellence. I'm yet to see a man who has spent time (in the class room) nurturing, teaching, encouraging and building up destinies like my father. He has (probably a world) record of the highest number of years in active service.

 A total of 56years of his life (1955 to 2011) was given to that noble profession; teaching. He retired from public service in 1990, after 35 years of active service at the age of 55 and  went ahead to spend the next 21years with the Catholic diocese of Aba as a full time teacher in Annunciation Seminary Amudara.

My father is a man with the strength of a bull, endowed with the courage of a lion, and flourishes in the grace of God. When I consider how relentless he has worked all his life, I wonder what could be worthy for his benefits.



When I called to congratulate him earlier today he told me he was doing some exercise with his younger brother but I sensed they were in the farm. You can imagine the kind of man who at 81years of age still sees work as a form of exercise. Again he said to me; "Charly, take my blessing of 81years; 81 and healthy is not an easy thing it is the grace of God". And I said Amen. Daddy, one of the best ways to celebrate you today is to say this prayer for you:
A Birthday Prayer for my Dad
May the good Lord bless you and keep you. 
May He reward your unique contributions to people's life with everything good and wonderful. May He renew your strength daily and bless you with everlasting joy.
May He keep you safe and protect you in your going out and coming in. May you be preserved for every special thing God desires to bring into your life. No one will represent you in your day of joy.
May Jehovah always smile upon you, and may His presence be your guide and your daily reward. In Jesus name I pray. Amen.

The Passion of love and The Pain of Loss - Part One

It was the longest night of my life. The doctor looked at me with mute hopeless appeal, his facial expression was that of total despair though he managed to pretend as if everything was okay. Within a second, I was gripped by this sense of disgust, sorrow and revulsion and I gave him a curious but futile stare. I could feel the scorch of fear on my skin travelling through my spine, down to the bone marrow even though he is yet to utter a word. I nearly lost my balance; I had to lean on the wall to regain myself. I feared the worst. It was about 1:30am in the early hours of Friday March 27th, 2015, I could feel the movement of light disappearing from my eyes. The night became darker than usual. My heart skipped as if it's about jumping out of its cage. All these happened in less than 5 seconds. I knew there was nothing okay about the situation, but I managed to ask, "I hope she is alright?"
